We have all heard by now that the oceans are over-fished and that there are some types of fish that we should avoid. But which ones? It’s very hard to keep track of and even though you may have that handy dandy chart on your fridge, chances are it will still be there, on the fridge, when you’re at the seafood counter in the store, scratching your head.
FishPhone is a mobile site from the Blue Ocean Institute, that serves as a portable complement to the great search tool on their site. So if you’re on iPhone, Blackberry or some other internet enabled phone you can go to the site and search for the fish you’re thinking of buying to see if it’s rated green (good), orange (ok) or red (bad). If you’re old school, but new school enough to know how to, text 30644 with the message FISH and the name of the fish you’re looking to buy.
This is a great way of thinking out of the box and going out of your way to reach your target audience when they need it the most. Go Blue Ocean Institute!
