Sunday, March 8

I was so tired this morning and couldn’t figure out why. Later, talking to my grandmother in Sweden, I realized that there had been a daylight savings switch last night. That would explain it.

We made a nice breakfast of scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and eggs, and this really good organic fair-trade Scandinavian coffee blend that we found at Trader Joe’s. Not that I am entirely unbiased, but M really liked it too. After some video gaming for the boys and freelance work for me, we headed out for a walk. It felt like spring outside and it was great to see all these people on the streets and outside cafés, I guess we’re all coming out of hibernation. Our favorite ice cream window turned out to be closed, so we took walk up Smith Street and finished off with an ice cream cone each from Blue Marble on Atlantic.

For dinner, we had decided to make fried seafood calamari, but maybe the pan wasn’t hot enough because the breading turned into mushy blobs. Although, with basmati rice, french cut green beans and lemon zest mayo, out seafood disaster was quite tasty. You live and learn.

I got bit by the spring cleaning bug this morning (must have been the weather), and did some tidying up throughout the day. I am determined to get our apartment to that elusive perfect state we always dream of it being in. Doing one or two things a day should do it. Let’s see how that works.
