Late, again, not so much, guess it’s ok. I just like lingering in bed in the morning too damn much! I wrapped up a lot of loose ends at work, and managed to get it all in good shape for a five o’clock meeting with the boss.
Both my designers were out of the office, one on vacation and one preparing for an art show that we had all planned to go to together. I had totally made a NYC-newbie mistake and only looked at the streets thinking it was a few blocks from where I had a date with a friend. Turns out one thing was on 5th Ave and one almost over by 11th, that’s about a half hour walk, not so close. So, I went to meet my friend at the Van Alen institute for an opening. The space was very hot and crowded and the people taking part in the performance, moving through the space wearing giant felt cocoons, must have been melting away.
We took a walk to find a nice place to have a drink, it was a very nice night. Walking with good company is always great, especially when the destination involves wine-drinking. After a glass of Montepulciano at a small Italian place, I stopped by my coworker’s exhibit, inside a pop-up gallery (wooden box) on 26th Street in Chelsea. It was very cool, and smelled nice, like the wood cutting department at Home Depot.
I met M, who also came from an event in the area, and we stopped for veggie curry and coconut noodles at a random Thai place. You really can’t go wrong with Thai (it’s hard to mess up), and I had been craving it for a good while. Going home, we ended up in a stinky train car, a not-so-nice end to a very nice evening.
