Today was a long day, not sure why, it just seemed to drag on forever. Conference calls, random meeting and tedious stuff that needed to be done.
When it was finally time to head out I took the subway down to SVA, to attend a lecture by Geoff Manaugh of BLDG BLOG. The Design Criticism program they have there is very cool, although this is the first year for the program, they have done a great deal of (free and public) lectures in their amazing space on 23rd Street. We stayed for drinks and a chat afterwards, and I even got the chance to speak a bit of Swedish, with one of the faculty whose mother was also from my mother land.
Before heading back to Brooklyn, M and I stopped for some empanadas at this great-looking place Empanada Joe’s. I had never been, and I really liked it. M was a bit grumpy because he was craving a burrito from Chipotle, but I refused since I am still kind of boycotting them in support of Florida’s tomato farmers. Call me silly, and maybe I don’t know all the facts, but if a boycott like this can help workers earn fairer wages, then I’m all for trying it.
It was a yucky rainy night. When will New York City realize that it should be spring already?
