Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and however you feel about this holiday one thing is for certain: it’s a good excuse to indulge in some delicious sweets. And the great news is that there are some really good, healthy options out there. One of my new favorite companies is Emmy’s Organics, who make the most amazingly tasting raw, vegan, gluten-free chocolates, macaroons and other sweets.
Emmy’s Organics was founded by Ian and Samantha, who are partners in both love and work, in Ithaca, NY. A mutual love for raw, pure foods brought them together and, after swooning over their recipes one too many times, they decided to go into business together. Ian was living with his mother (the eponymous Emmy) at the time, and at first, all the products were made right in her kitchen.

I sampled the Valentine’s Gift Set, which contains Chocolate Super-Fudge, Original Dark Chocolate Sauce, Coconut Vanilla and Dark Cacao Macaroons Macaroons, the Superfood Trail Mix, and the Chocolate Super Fudge— all amazing and made with ingredients you can pronounce. It’s great to have sweets that actually make you feel good instead of guilty after you have them — it’s a treat for both mind and body.
Although it’s probably too late to order in time for Valentine’s, just get something as a present for yourself. You totally deserve it.
