In Bruce Weber‘s recent fashion film “First Crush,” shot for British Vogue, we meet a fresh-faced couple who seemingly live a pretty good life in a non-descript small town somewhere in rural America. It’s farm chic, and the simple life as style inspiration.
It’s set on farm-like rural homestead, and an honor farmstand, backyard chickens, a big messy kitchen and a basket of freshly picked greens all make appearances — things you normally would not expect to see in a fashion magazine.
Depicting the back-to-the-land lifestyle as a trend may be somewhat controversial in these contexts, but it’s nice to see some realness in Vogue. The models are Lady Jean Campbell, the daughter of the Earl & Thane of Cawdor and a former Vogue Fashion Editor and Ian Mellencamp, nephew of rocker John Cougar Mellencamp. Soon maybe we’ll see some real fresh-faced young farmers in Vogue?
