Listening to WEDR, The Black Giant, in Miami and hearing SWEET THING by Rufus for the first time in the backseat of a hand-me-down turquoise Oldsmobile Cutlass. Going to The Public Lounge for smothered chicken (just like your momma’s) and mac and cheese (that would make you lay down and holler) Seeing Barry White onstage in a parrot green three-piece blotting with a handkerchief… because it was hot.
Watching Renee do the hoot-en-tot in her Laura Ashley prairie skirt, it was 11PM and we had just got back from Brunch; she looked good. Sitting on a stoop with my pals on a hot NYC Summer night listening to CANDY and having Rory bite off the beer bottle caps for us… that was nice.
