You’ve probably heard of Gilt Groupe, the highly successful “daily deal” site that launched in 2007 and offers limited time sales on everything under the fashion sky. Now, there is an option for us conscious consumers. Pure Citizen, launched this week by Amy Ludwigson, founder of Pure Habitat, offers 30-50% off organic clothing for adults and children, fair trade home and accessories, yoga products, natural beauty, and more.
Each sale lasts 24 hours and when something is gone, it’s gone, just like on Gilt Groupe, which has been known to provoke mass-hysteria when there is an especially covetable brand on offer. What really sets Pure Citizen apart from the others, however, is the option to donate all or part of your savings to a featured cause instead of putting it back into your own wallet. Today, for example, a gorgeous Vintage Geometric Cake Ring from J. Fein Designs can be yours for $31.50 instead of $45. You can then choose if you want to simply save the 30%, or donate 5% and save 25%, donate 10% and save 20% and so on, up to donating the full savings. So, even if you only donate the smallest amount each time, it will add up (and you can feel even better about making educated buying decisions!).
Rings by J. Fein Designs, made from sustainably harvested wood and recycled products. J. Fein also employs local moms and students to help create her designs.
New sales are offered each weekday, starting at midnight PST on Sunday night. Products are shipped within 3-5 days and there is a flat shipping fee of $7 (unless you spend $100 or more, in which case shipping is free). In true eco-manner, Pure Citizen reuses shipping boxes, so don’t be surprised “if the box looks like it went around the world a couple of times.” Even protective packaging materials are reused. Items can be returned within 30 days for a store credit.
During the days since it’s launch, Pure Citizen has offered sales on basics from Spun Organics, denim from goodsociety and jewelry from J. Fein Designs. Upcoming sales to look out for include Amal Oils, Ever Bamboo, Hovey Lee, Priti Nails, Jessica Milton, Nicole Bridger, C. Marchuska, Arghand, Rebagz, and Glob Paint.
You have to become a member, but it’s free to sign up and if you refer a friend you will get $10 credited to your account the first time they buy something!
Sign up here and start shopp… err, donating.

Very nice Pure Citizen! I work with Savy Mamas, a new site launching soon that offers organic, eco-friendly and green deals for moms and families. A percentage of sales goes to charities that save lives of moms and babies in poor areas of the world. Save money…save lives. Check us out at http://www.savymamas.com
